What are the chances?

3rd of April 2025

After getting my visa approved - still hoping it arrives before the 15th of April, our planned departure date - I was chatting to Brendan on the phone when I heard a familiar sound... I have neither heard nor seen a helicopter in months, but here was one landing right in front of me, landed, in fact, in the very same dark park I had so carefully avoided the night before!

Chatting to the pilot, I found out he had done his first firefighting mission the day before. That said, he looked fresh and didn’t smell like smoke, so I’m not sure how big the fire was 🤣

We only had time for a quick chat because he was there to pick up the passenger that had chartered the flight, but, while he was loading his pax, I had the chance to chat to 3 other bystanders. They were students from Poland on vacation. You never know who you’re going to meet.

It was then back to the hostel to collect my bags, before the 4-hour train ride back home to Värnamo in time to make dinner for the kids.
