It was written in the snow

We arrived in Boulder late at night and, having left a baking Austin just hours before, found ourselves in a late winter wonderland. We also found ourselves a little locked out - the reception was closed and we didn’t have a phone on us that was set up for international calling. Luckily, just as we were moving from enchanted by the snow to mildly worried by it, Trent from Ember & Ice came walking past. A few minutes later we were in our cabin 😀 but also signed up for an early morning dip in the near-freezing Boulder Creek 😬

Ice baths are something Christo is quite familiar with, but I’m a fan of comfort and wasn’t quite so ready. However, I had once committed to doing one with Christo in Sweden, and so I found myself tied up by my past self’s bold words!

And so, while you were looking for Easter eggs in the spring sunshine, I was wading into the fresh snow melt, thinking only of the sauna that was to follow. The team at Ember n Ice have created a wonderful product for people in and around Boulder (and especially for guests at Foot of the Mountain Motel who get to use it for free) and soon a test of resolve in the river became a social chat in a wood-fired sauna and I couldn’t have felt more revived!
