Road trips and ice dips

The nexus for this trip of ours was a desire of mine to experience the scale of the American landscape: initially by trans continental train, but that didn’t allow for enough meetings, and then by car, but that would take too long. So while we co-evolved to the sort of plane-based trips most people would use, we did want to get some ground truth in and I’m so glad we did. Not only did we spend an incredible morning learning about Nevada Division of Forestry’s work in the Sierra Nevadas, but we got to experience the splendour of Lake Tahoe firsthand.

I must say, a dip in an alpine lake will do a great job of keeping you awake for a 5-hour drive on the wrong side of the road 🤣
